Sometimes all it takes to bring in a fall look is to update your existing home decor by
adding touches of silk fall leaves or fall foliage from your own front yard.

This is not a promotion, I simply wanted to share with my wonderful readers all the lovely
fall ideas including my wreath in this current issue.  I hope that you get your copy
and enjoy all the wonderful ideas featured.

Autumn is a wonderful time to observe the outdoors, but in these parts, it still feels like
hot summer days.  I am currently missing the cool, brisk air of autumn, I am missing
the changing of the foliage and the swirling leaves as they are stirred by the wind.
Instead, I am placing simple reminders in my home to remind me of the season ahead
as I await the cool days of fall to arrive.

In the meantime, I have updated a few old handmade pieces with autumn
flare as seen the other day with the fall flower pot makeover.
Today's craft is by far the easiest, that is if you already have a paper wreath.
I am sharing this old book page wreath that I made several years ago by adding faux
leaves to it.

The leaves may be purchased at any craft store or at the Dollar Tree.
Simply tuck in the leaves around the wreath and you're done.
It is that simple!  Then hang it over a door or mantel to enjoy.
I believe that you can do this with a grapevine wreath as well.
You can practically add fall leaves to anything to give it a warm, fall appearance.
Be creative!

Deck the Halls with Handmade Goodies

how to make a paper wreath
This year I will be decorating my home with some old Christmas decorations from the past
and a few handmade pieces of my own.  I have looked around my home for items that I can use
to make my own hand crafted decor.  This is a good way to save for the Holidays.

I hung on my back door a wreath made out of pages of an old book that my father-in-law
purchased in a second hand store a year ago.

It was fun to make, but a lot of work too,
not to mention the mess I created with the glue gun on my fingers.  I forgot to take
photos of my little project, so I will share the tutorial from this site here
We also gathered items from the outdoors, like pine cones, branches and berries.
My son's favorite are the pine cones.
I took a couple of recycled jars and I wrapped them in scrapbook paper
and ribbon to hold festive candy canes.
You all know this one.  It's my felt ornament!  I added some glitter to add sparkle.
It's hard to see the glitter on here, but it looks like snow balls on my tree.  I love it!
At our home our focus during Christmas is the birth
of Jesus Christ.  I add little reminders around the house such as nativity sets,
and words written on our chalkboard, after all he is the greatest gift.

Will you be adding anything handmade to your decor this year? What is it?
